A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending The Lady Winifred and Didi Show (Part of FringeNYC) at one of my favorite venues in the East Village, Drom. I was able to catch the Tuesday - 5:00pm show - an interesting time slot for a drag improv musical show.
No matter the time, Lady Winifred and Didi brought energy for a great performance. Their extreme way of navigating the treacherous waters of current events (Trump, Ashley Madison, Trump... need I say more) through jokes, games, and audience involvement was tasteful yet risque.
Throughout the jokes, the underlying story of the show - portrayed with the help of musical compositions and stylings of their band (written/arranged by James Sheppard ) was fun, catchy, and most importantly for me, musically challenging. The band was SOLID, the musical ideas were GREAT; Really fun to watch and check out the engagement between the musicians on stage and the front men (women? - still not sure).
I would have loved to have gone to one of the evening performances - but the show was incredible - even on Tuesday afternoon ;). I definitely recommend checking this out if you are looking for something new, fresh, and original and they are performing in your area.
